Cooking for Connections: A Thanksgiving Community Meal

Cooking for Connections: A Thanksgiving Community Meal

As an Asian immigrant, I’ve always wanted to connect with my neighbors in a casual, friendly way. After spending a few years here in Richmond, BC, Canada, I’ve been blessed to meet both Asian and non-Asian neighbors, and I can truly feel how strong the community spirit is in this city.

Thanks to the support of the Neighbourhood Small Grants (NSG) program, I now have a chance to pay it forward by organizing a one-of-a-kind community event: Cooking for Connections – Recipe of Life. It’s all about bringing people together through food, stories, and friendship.

Our gathering includes:

  • Recipe sharing
  • Guided English conversation with prompts if needed
  • Immigrant storytelling
  • Shared meal and discussion

💡 Two Ways to Join!

👩‍🍳 1. Be our Asian Homecook Chef (10 spots available)

If you’re an Asian immigrant (East, South, West, or North Asia) who wants to:

  • Meet new friends in Richmond
  • Practice English if it’s not your first language
  • Share a home-cooked dish you’re proud of (there will be a subsidy of $15 to cover your food cost)
…register as one of our Homecook Chefs. Many of us would love to learn your recipe too!

🍴 2. Be a Guest (10 spots available)

If you’re a non-Asian Richmondite who:

  • Loves to try delicious Asian home-cooked food
